(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Centre, the Zootechnical and Veterinary Centre is responsible for:

• pastoral animation and the popularization of livestock farming methods;
• the collection of statistics;
• monitoring the activities of professional and interprofessional organisations in the sector;
• the technical supervision of breeders;
• the administration of medical care to animals;
• vaccination of animals;
• monitoring the exploitation and management of pastures and pastoral hydraulics;
• the assessment of fodder and water resources;
• quality control of foodstuffs and products of animal and fishery origin;
• the control of documents accompanying animals and fishery products;
• veterinary health control.
