(1) Placed under the authority of a Departmental Delegate, the Departmental Delegation for Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries is responsible for:

• monitoring the implementation of government programs in the fields of livestock, fisheries, animal and fisheries industries;
• monitoring the promotion of investments in the fields of livestock and fisheries at the departmental level, in conjunction with the decentralized services of the Ministry in charge of the economy, planning and regional development and the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development;
• the control of the health of foodstuffs of animal, fishery and fish origin;
• monitoring the application of measures for the conservation, development and exploitation of farmed animals and fishery products;
• the implementation of measures aimed at improving the quantity and quality of production and yields in the livestock and fisheries sectors;
• health control in sea, river and fish fisheries;
• monitoring the implementation of activities that have benefited from a delegation of competences in the areas of livestock, fisheries and the animal and fisheries industries;
• participation in the execution of surveys in the fields of livestock, fisheries, animal and fisheries industries;
• monitoring of all projects and activities in the fields of livestock, fisheries and the animal and fisheries industries;
• extension of livestock, fisheries and the animal and fisheries industries;
• the animation of organized groups of breeders and fishermen;
• the promotion and advice on modern methods of breeding, fishing and the development of the animal and fisheries industries;
• the Council on livestock health protection and veterinary public health measures;
• monitoring the application of livestock, fisheries and aquaculture regulations;
• monitoring the activities of private veterinarians;
• monitoring the collection and production of departmental statistics in the fields of livestock, fisheries, animal and fisheries industries;
• the creation of the departmental file of organized groups of breeders and industrialists in the sector;
• monitoring the activities of professional and interprofessional organisations in the sector;
• the distribution of technical equipment and medicines;
• technical support for the implementation of pastoral hydraulics and pasture management works;
• of the veterinary health inspectorate.

(2) It shall include:

• The Section for the Development of Animal Production and Industries, Pastures and Pastoral Hydraulics;
• The Fisheries, Aquaculture and Fisheries Industry Section;
• The Veterinary Services Section;
• The Office of Common Affairs.
