(1) Placed under the authority of a Deputy Director, the Sub-Directorate of Pharmacy and the Private Veterinary Sector is responsible for:

  • monitoring the implementation of the government’s policy on pharmacy and veterinary inputs;
  • the development and monitoring of the implementation of pharmacy projects and veterinary inputs;
  • the development and monitoring of the application of regulations on pharmacy and veterinary inputs;
  • examining applications for marketing authorisation for veterinary medicinal products, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • the supply of technical equipment and medicines to the decentralised services;
  • monitoring the activities of pharmacies, laboratories and the marketing of veterinary inputs;
  • monitoring and controlling the activities of veterinarians in private practice;
  • the popularization of scientific and technical documentation on pharmacy and veterinary inputs;
  • participation in the development of quality standards for veterinary inputs;
  • the promotion of the private veterinary sector;
  • assistance to veterinarians in private practice;
  • veterinary pharmaceutical inspection;
  • the examination of applications for approval, the authorisation to create and open pharmacies and veterinary pharmaceutical laboratories;
  • the development and monitoring of the implementation of the health mandate.
