Aquatic Species Health Service
(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Aquatic Species Health Service is responsible for:
- monitoring the implementation of regulations on the health and well-being of aquatic species;
- monitoring the application of aquatic animal health standards;
- the popularization of methods for the detection and control of aquatic animal diseases;
- monitoring the implementation of measures for the early detection, notification and control of aquatic animal diseases;
- liaison with international organizations on aquatic animal health;
- participation in the development of standards for the establishment of farms and aquatic animal exploitation establishments;
- participation in the development and monitoring of the application of standards for the management and protection of natural and artificial aquatic animal biotopes, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- monitoring the application of standards for the installation of aquatic animal farms;
- monitoring the application of measures to combat pollution of natural and artificial biotopes of aquatic species, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- the popularization of scientific and technical literature on aquatic animal health.
