(1) Under the authority of a Head of Department, the Fisheries Technology Service is responsible for:

  • the promotion of the processing of fishery and aquaculture products;
  • the determination of the standards of catching gear and the market sizes of the fish species traded, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • technological studies for the preparation, packaging and conservation of fish products and their derivatives;
  • the development and monitoring of the implementation of technological studies of fishing means and catching methods, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • and the popularization of appropriate technologies in the fishery products industries.
