(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Fisheries Industries Service is responsible for:

  • the determination and monitoring of the implementation of the standards of establishments for the processing, storage and marketing of fishery products, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • the determination and monitoring of the implementation of health and hygiene standards for industrial fishing units, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • the determination and monitoring of the implementation of quality and control standards for fishing equipment and products, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • monitoring and enforcing regulations on the processing, processing and storage of fishery products;
  • the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create and open establishments for the processing and conservation of fishery products;
  • the promotion of the processing of fishery and aquaculture products;
  • support for the fishing fleet and land-based establishments with a view to complying with hygiene and sanitation standards, in liaison with the administrations and bodies concerned.
