(1) Under the authority of a Deputy Director, the Sub-Directorate of Fisheries Technologies and Fishery Industries is responsible for:

  • participation in the preparation and monitoring of technological and technical fisheries studies;
  • the preparation and monitoring of the implementation of projects in the field of fisheries technologies and fishing industries;
  • the examination of applications for the creation and opening of establishments for the processing, storage and marketing of fishery products;
  • participation in the development of quality standards and control of fishing equipment and products, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
  • monitoring the implementation of quality standards and control of fishing gear and products;
  • technical studies for preparation, packaging and conservation
  • fish production and their derivatives;
  • technological studies of fishing means and catching methods;
  • support for the fishing fleet and land-based establishments with a view to complying with hygiene and health standards, in liaison with the administrations and bodies concerned;
  • the study and analysis of physico-chemical conditions in fishing areas;
  • monitoring the application of quality standards for aquaculture equipment and products;
  • the promotion of the processing of fishery and aquaculture products;
  • the popularization of appropriate technologies in the fisheries products industries;
  • training of processors of fishery products.
