Brigade for the Control and Surveillance of Fishing Activities
(1) Placed under the authority of a Chief of Brigade, the Brigade for the Control and Surveillance of Fishing Activities is responsible, in liaison with the administrations concerned:
- the control and surveillance of fishing activities;
- monitoring compliance with fisheries regulations;
- monitoring of fishing areas and biological rest periods;
- the organization and monitoring of the protection of fishery resources;
- control of fishing gear and methods and market sizes of commercially exploited species;
- monitoring the landings of fishery products of fishing units duly authorised to operate in waters under national jurisdiction.
(2) It comprises, in addition to the Chief of Brigade, four (04) National Controllers.
