Sub-Directorate of Animal Production
(1) Placed under the authority of a Deputy Director, the Sub-Directorate of Animal Production is responsible for:
- the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of actions and activities in the field of livestock farming, horses, camels, donkeys, short-cycle livestock and beekeeping;
- the development and control of the application of regulations on the breeding of domestic animals, non-conventional breeding, beekeeping, companion animals and their products and by-products;
- the identification and coordination of actions contributing to the conservation, development and exploitation of domestic animals, non-conventional farming, beekeeping, companion animals, their products and by-products;
- the management of genetic resources and the implementation of actions in favour of their development;
- the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create or open operating establishments for the breeding of large livestock, horses, camels, short-cycle farms and beekeeping;
- the examination of technical advice files on the import or export of animals;
- monitoring the technical supervision of livestock breeding establishments, horses, camels, short-cycle farms and beekeeping;
- participation in the collection of statistics on livestock, animals and animal production;
- monitoring the exploitation and marketing of animals;
- monitoring and controlling animal movements;
- support for livestock farms and their products;
- monitoring and control of private livestock production services;
- monitoring and technical control of breeding establishments;
- the promotion of medium and large livestock farms;
- the promotion and monitoring of quality labels for livestock products, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
- monitoring the traceability of livestock products.
