Meat, Leather and Hide Industries Service
(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Meat, Hides and Skins Industries Service is responsible for:
- the preparation and monitoring of the application of regulations relating to the meat, leather and skin industries;
- technical monitoring of the meat, leather and hide industries;
- the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create and authorisation to open establishments in the meat, leather and skin industries;
- the examination of technical opinion files on the import or export of meat, hides and skins;
- monitoring the application of standards and quality control of the meat, hides and skins industries, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
- participation in the collection of statistics on the meat, leather and hide industries and products derived from them;
- the promotion of quality assurance and labelling in the
meat, leather and hide industries; - the promotion and monitoring of quality labels for livestock products, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
- monitoring the traceability of products from the meat, hides and skins industry.
