(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Dairy Industry Service is responsible for:

• the preparation and monitoring of the application of the regulations on the dairy and dairy products industries, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
• the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create and authorisation to open dairy industry establishments;
• the examination of technical opinion files on the import or export of milk and milk products;
• the popularization of technologies in the dairy industries, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
• participation in the collection of statistics on the dairy industry and dairy products;
• monitoring standards and quality control of milk and dairy products, in conjunction with the relevant administrations;
• the promotion of quality assurance and labelling in the dairy industries;
• monitoring the traceability of dairy industry products.
