DIRECTORATE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND INDUSTRIES (DDPIA)

Director for the Development of Animal Production and Industries
(1) Under the authority of a Director, the Directorate for the Development of Animal Production and Industries is responsible for:
- the development, execution and monitoring of government policy on the development of animal production and industries;
- the development and monitoring of the application of regulations on the development of animal production and industries;
- the development, implementation and monitoring of the ministerial programme for the development of animal production and industries;
- the development, implementation and monitoring of the extension policy for the development of animal production and industries;
- the development, implementation and monitoring of government policy in terms of support for livestock farms, animal industries and the various actions to modernize production systems and livestock sectors;
- the improvement of quantity and quality of production and yields in the livestock and animal industries;
- the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create and open operating establishments for the development of animal production and industries;
- the examination of technical advice files on the import and export of animals;
- support and technical supervision of farms and livestock establishments and animal industries;
- the management, implementation and popularization of research results in the development of animal production and industries, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
- monitoring the management of genetic resources;
- the collection of statistics on animals, animal production and animal industries;
- monitoring animal exploitation and animal industries;
- the monitoring and control of the movement and marketing of animals;
- the development of consultation frameworks between professional organizations and development partners;
- advisory support to producers; the emergence and development of professional organisations in the livestock sector and animal industries;
- research and implementation of incentives for producers in the livestock sector and animal industries, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- the promotion of livestock products and animal industries, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- the determination and monitoring of the application of quality standards and labels, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
- monitoring the traceability of livestock and animal industry products;
- participation in the organization of fairs, exhibitions and comitia.
