(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Cell, the Legal Unit is responsible for:

• the preparation and formatting of draft agreements or texts of a legislative or regulatory nature initiated by the Ministry or submitted for the Minister’s signature;
• respect for the legality and legal regularity of acts binding on the Ministry;
• legal advice on matters within the scope of the Ministry;
• the promotion and popularization of legal culture within the
• Ministry;
• the investigation of administrative and contentious appeals;
• the defence of the State’s interests in court whenever the Ministry is involved in a case.

(2) It comprises, in addition to the head of the cell, three (03) Assistant Research Officers.
