The Institutional Programs MINEPIA are developed to respond to national priorities in the field of animal husbandry and fisheries, with the aim of’ improving food security, promoting sustainable production, and supporting rural communities. Here is an overview of the main programs implemented by the department.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND INDUSTRIES (PROGRAMME 053)

The Development Program of Animal Productions and Industries aims to stimulate the growth of animal production and develop the processing industries of products from the’ breeding. Its main objectives include:

  • Strengthening the capacity of producers and improving production infrastructure.
  • Support the diversification of reared species to better meet market needs.
  • Promote local product processing to generate added value.
  • Promote investment in animal industries to create new jobs and boost the rural’ economy.

This programme is essential to meet the growing needs for’ livestock products and to reduce dependence on imports in this sector.

PROGRAMME D’ IMPROVEMENT OF THE HEALTH COVER OF LIVESTOCK AND CONTROL OF ZOONOSES (PROGRAMME 055)

The ProgrammeImprovement of the Health Coverage of Cheptels and Fight against Zoonoses is essential for livestock safety and public health. It focuses on:

  • The implementation of vaccination campaigns and health monitoring of livestock.
  • Capacity building of veterinarians and’improvement of animal health services.
  • The prevention of zoonoses, these diseases transmissible from animals to humans, through increased surveillance and preventive actions.
  • Raising awareness among farmers of good health practices to limit the risks of’ epidemics and protect the food chain.

This programme contributes significantly to the health of animal and human populations by ensuring effective health coverage and controlling the risks of disease spread.

PROGRAMME FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF FISHERIES PRODUCTION (PROGRAMME 057)

The Development Program of Fish Productions is focused on strengthening aquatic production to improve food security and generate income in fishing communities. The priority actions of this programme include:

  • Promoting sustainable fishing practices and managing fisheries resources.
  • L’improvement of’aquaculture techniques to diversify and increase production.
  • The construction and modernisation of fisheries infrastructure and the processing of fishery products.
  • Training of fishermen in new technologies to optimize production while protecting the aquatic ecosystems.

Through this program, MINEPIA promotes sustainable development of the fisheries sector, ensuring a local supply of quality aquatic products.

GOVERNANCE PROGRAMME AND INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT IN THE LIVESTOCK, FISHERIES AND ANIMAL INDUSTRIES SUBSECTOR (PROGRAMME 059)

The Governance and Institutional Support Programme the objective is to enhance the’ efficiency and transparency in the management of the activities of the livestock and fisheries subsector. The actions of this programme include:

  • The modernisation of governance frameworks and the optimisation of decision-making processes.
  • Institutional capacity building and coordination among sector actors.
  • The implementation of inclusive policies, enabling small producers to better integrate the value chains.
  • The promotion of transparency and’efficiency in the’ allocation of resources and the realization of projects.

This programme is essential to ensure effective resource management, strengthening governance structures and supporting sector development efforts.
