WORKING VISIT BY MINEPIA TO THE ADAMAOUA AND FAR NORTH REGIONS

The Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taïga, has welcomed the progress made in the infrastructure sector set up by the government in the Far North and Adamaoua regions.

Dr Taïga made this statement at the end of his working visit to the Far North and Adamaoua regions from 12 to 21 December 2022. He praised the efforts of livestock farmers and all those involved in modernising the sector, adding that advances in production technology adopted by livestock farmers had facilitated the implementation of the import-substitution policy.

MINEPIA pointed out that livestock farming is flourishing in the Adamaoua region, and that chicken and pork are no longer imported. While acknowledging the efforts of livestock farmers in the Adamaoua region who have taken up fish farming without support, he noted that the challenge ahead is to set up a system that will enable fish imports to be replaced.

In the Far North region, Dr Taiga visited a solar-powered pastoral borehole, a vaccine park, the modern livestock market in KAELE and the modern abattoir in DZIGUILAO. In the Adamaoua region, he visited the WOYLA farm, KOURDA BIRNI, zone AG, WALDE KOSSAM, SAMA Farms SARL, the grazing fields, the new livestock exhibition site and the WAKWA zootechnical station.

The visit ended with the distribution of dairy equipment to producers.
