Veterinary drugs : From products to the scanner

The 11th session of the Marketing Authorization Commission for the said drugs was held  on Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Yaoundé.

During this meeting, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Jaji Manu Gidado, recalled the purpose of this seminar. ”  The purpose of this meeting is to give an opinion on restrictions or prohibitions on the use of veterinary drugs and on withdrawals of approval,” he said.

For Dr. Garga Gon, Director of Veterinary Services, this 11th session highlights the safety situation of veterinary medicines. “This seminar will make it possible to propose to the Minister in charge of Veterinary Services, technical opinions with a view to the marketing of veterinary drugs and also to propose opinions on the withdrawal or prohibition of drugs that are not compliant. All this will make it possible to make quality medicines available to animal health professionals and producers.  We do pharmacovigilance to check whether the drugs that are circulating are of good quality. Then, at the end of this meeting, we will be able to determine precisely the veterinary drugs that can be authorized to be placed on the Cameroonian market,” he concluded.

The President of the National Order of Veterinarians of Cameroon, the heads of MINSANTÉ, MINMIDT and MINCOMMERCE, not to mention the strong mobilization of MINEPIA staff, participated.
