Chief Dr. Joseph DION NGUTE, Prime Minister, Head of Government, personal representative of the Head of State H.E Paul Biya, inaugurated this Friday, December 27, 2024, the architectural jewel of the Youpwé Landing and Fish Market in Douala, Cameroon.

It was in the presence of members of the Government, in this case Dr. Taïga, Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, main negotiator and project manager of this important and gigantic non-refundable donation from the Republic of Japan to our country. This festive and colorful ceremony on the banks of the Wouri River was attended by traditional, political, economic authorities, and the internal and external living forces of the SAWA people.

This moment of celebration was enhanced by the presence of the Japanese side led by the Ambassador of Japan to Cameroon. In his speech, the Diplomat magnified the frank collaboration between Cameroon and his country Japan, not without congratulating the Head of State and his entire government for this historic and secular cooperation between Cameroon and Japan.

This achievement in the amount of Seven Billion CFA Francs is a newborn that meets the most rigorous and strict international standards.

This great investment consists of an ice warehouse for the conservation of fish products, a waste disposal area and a whole wastewater treatment centre. A catering area completes these ultra-modern facilities.

This great achievement improves the safety and efficiency of loading and unloading operations, not to mention the conditions of fish marketing at the landing stage and the Youpwe market in the economic capital of Cameroon.

The optimal level of achievements will also contribute to improving the working conditions of the community of fishermen and fishmongers. The fish products sold to consumers in Douala and elsewhere will certainly be of very good hygienic quality. Good luck to Cameroon-Japan cooperation.
