OWN 2024 : AND PARI TENU
The 5th Yaoundé International Poultry Show (SAVI) was held from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 April 2024 in Yaoundé.
Organised by the Interprofession Avicole du Cameroun (IPAVIC) in collaboration with the Ministère de l’Elevage, des Pêches et des Industries Animales (MINEPIA), the 5th edition of SAVI 2024 took place at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr Taïga in the presence of several members of the government, who had come to testify to the importance they attach to the development of the poultry sub-sector in particular, and to the implementation of the import-substitution policy as desired by the Head of State in general. The event was also attended by economic operators, company directors, producers, members of civil society and visitors from all walks of life. The opening ceremony was followed by a guided tour of the site led by Dr Taiga, who was accompanied by a large government delegation. The aim was to exchange views with the various participants and gather any suggestions they might have. B-to-B meetings, exchanges of services and ideas, sharing of best practices and the latest innovations that could revolutionise the sector, and presentations aimed at highlighting the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the poultry industry were the main features of this international meeting during the three days allotted to it.
It was therefore a question of Cameroon reflecting on the ways and means of strengthening its position on the world market by improving the quality and quantity of its poultry production. There was a massive presence of local and even international companies. On the national level, there were “big names” in the field of veterinary feed, medicines and equipment, such as the NJS group and the Cabinets et Pharmacies Vétérinaires du Cameroun CAPHAVET. Dr Taïga also received a visit from his Central African counterpart, the Minister for Livestock and Animal Health, Mr Hassan Bouba, who was accompanied by the CAR ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Jeannette Gotchanga née Betizamo and a large delegation. After three days of sharing, SAVI will close its doors with a closing ceremony full of emotion, with fine artistic performances and, above all, a feeling of having kept all the promises. The organisers are delighted with the active participation of local and international players, and with the experiences that have been shared, but above all they intend to take into account the suggestions that have been made to improve future editions.
