MINEPIA AT THE HEART OF THE 9TH EDITION OF SIALY: A SHOWCASE FOR THE IMPORT-SUBSTITUTION STRATEGY

The 9th edition of the Yaoundé International Agriculture and Agri-Food Exhibition (SIALY) officially opened on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the National Museum, in a dynamic and friendly atmosphere. Placed under the very high patronage of the Head of State, the event saw the participation of several personalities.

The President of the Republic was represented by the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Prof. FUH CALISTUS GENTRY.

The days of 23 and 24 June were devoted to setting up the stands and setting up the site. June 25 marked the official launch of the show, with guests arriving between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. In her opening speech, Mrs. MOTTO Bibiane, promoter of SIALY, welcomed the institutional support, while expressing her gratitude to the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA), Dr. TAIGA, for his leadership in the development of the livestock, fisheries and animal industries sector.

The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr. TAÏGA, was represented at this ceremony by the Technical Advisor No. 1, Dr. MIMBANG Guy Iréné.

MINEPIA marked the event with the remarkable presence of its interprofessions, namely: INTERPORCAM (Cameroon Interprofessional Pig Association), IPAVIC (Cameroon Poultry Interprofession), OIP-LAIT-CAM (Interprofessional Organization of the Dairy and Cattle Sector), OIDAC (Interprofessional Organization for the Development of Aquaculture of Cameroon), and SODEPA (Society for the Development and Exploitation of Animal Productions).

Through these structures, MINEPIA presented the progress made in local processing, the structuring of animal sectors, the promotion of “Made in Cameroon” products, and above all, the concrete implementation of the national import-substitution policy. By encouraging local production and reducing dependence on imports in the poultry, pig, bovine-dairy and aquaculture sectors, MINEPIA is positioning itself as a strategic pillar of the country’s agri-food development.

The many visitors to the MINEPIA stands were able to discover local products available on call.

MINEPIA, through its active participation and its vision oriented towards food sovereignty, continues to play a leading role in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through import-substitution and the enhancement of local value chains.

Mrs. DJUIKWI F. Linda Ines, Executive at CELCOM-MINEPIA
