MINEPIA: ALL STRUCTURES ARE CONSULTING

All the structures of this ministerial department were around Dr. TAÏGA Minister, to plan on the objectives to be achieved during this year.

The Integrated Plan for Import Substitution of the Agropastoral and Fisheries Sector (PIISAH 2024-2027) is the hobbyhorse of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries in this year 2025. The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries hammered it home to his colleagues on January 23, 2025 in Yaoundé. This is this plan (PIISAH) established by the President of the Republic and whose overall objective is to reverse Cameroon’s trade balance deficit of more than 1000 billion CFA francs. The PIISAH, MINEPIA component concerns two speculations in particular, milk and fish. Dr. Taïga, instead of a speech, spoke openly to his colleagues to find the strategy for implementing this presidential instruction.

Regarding fish, catch fishing should be strengthened but, the solution for Dr. TAÏGA is the development of aquaculture, a sine qua non condition for the sufficient supply of fish products to Cameroon. This involves the reference situation which recommends the availability of statistics in this area whose imports are close to 120,000 tons annually. Regarding milk, the minister’s proposal to his colleagues aims at the purchase of high-performance animals in terms of milk production. “The experience of the Montbéliard that we have acquired is one of our great successes”, stressed the minister. Indeed, within the framework of the Livestock Development Project (PRODEL), the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries has purchased exotic Montbéliard cows from Europe. These animals, whose milk production capacity varies between 30 and 40 liters of milk per day, had the main objective of strengthening national milk production. Finally, the purchase of new dairy cows in order to meet the expectations of PIISAH remains the strategic orientation of MINEPIA.

This consultation, which was attended by almost all of MINEPIA’s structures, followed the ceremony of presenting New Year’s wishes to the minister.
