Dr. TAIGA INAUGURATES UHT DAIRY PRODUCTION FACILITY
The Minister of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taiga inaugurated an Ultra High Temperature milk production chain in Mardock, NGAOUNDERE on the 8th September 2025.
The double event also culminated in the distribution of government’s support to dairy farmers in the region, which comprised of production and milk transformation material.
Dr. Taiga lauded the efforts of the Promoter and encouraged all and sundry to consume the high-quality milk produced at the facility. He disclosed that 18.000 tons of milk is imported and encouraged actors to produce more than the quantity imported. He enjoined actors in the dairy sector to put hands on deck to ensure a huge production of milk so as to enable the UHT milk production chain to function properly. He revealed that the main objective of the Ministry of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries is to promote the establishment of dairy farms which has been successfully done in the Adamawa, West, East, North and Far North regions of the country.
He assured dairy farmers of government’s support as it has already elaborated a development plan for the dairy sector. He cited the exoneration of taxes on all imported equipments and material the putting in place of the interprofession of dairy farmers and equipments to use to effectively carry out the task.
The donation by government comprised of milk churning equipments, cream separators, 20-liter milk cans, shredding or grinding plant forage hatvesters, milking machines and others.
The Ultra High Temperature Milk Production Chain was created in 2015 with other modern dairy farms in NGAOUNDERE under the COOP KOSSAM. In 2018, they went industrial with the aim of producing fresh milk for the locality, five-hundred-liter (500) liters of milk was produced and marketed during that period. In 2020, two thousand liters was produced with the arrival of the Montbeliardes cows.
The newly inaugurated dairy factory is capable of producing over five thousand liters of milk daily. Seven hundred and fifty (750) million francs CFA has been invested in the project with three hundred and twenty-five (325) million francs CFA subvention from PRODEL The dairy factory has the capacity to absorb one hundred dairy farms and more than ten collection centers.
It has the potential to employ one hundred (100) million workers and can directly employ more than one thousand.
The Minister accompanied by Senator PUENE Françoise and other dignitaries cut the symbolic ribbon of the Ultra High Temperature Production Chain and distributed the gifts from government to the actors.
The stakeholders on their part expressed gratitude and promised to augment dairy production in order to promote import substitution.
