Cooperation: The Italian ambassador visits MINEPIA

Dr Taïga and H.E. Filippo Scammaca Del Murgo met at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries on 26 November 2021.

On 26 November 2021, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries received an ambassador with a keen interest in livestock and particularly fisheries issues in his office. H.E. Filippo Scammaca Del Murgo and Dr Taïga focused on livestock farming and fishing during an audience that lasted thirty minutes. “There is a great deal of cooperation between the two countries in the fisheries sector. Italy has a great deal of expertise and experience in fishing and fish farming,” said the Italian diplomat who presented his credentials to the Minister of External Relations on 19 October 2021. The ambassador went on to request statistics on fishery products from Cameroon, and made a number of promises to his host. “You can count on me, I will do my best to establish contacts between my country’s fishing and fish farming companies and Cameroon”, continued H.E. Filippo Scammaca Del Murgo.

In his turn, the minister welcomed the good relations between Italy and Cameroon in terms of livestock farming and fishing in particular. “Fishing is the top priority. Our weakness is the absence of major shipowners, fishing and processing companies”, said the Minister. These are two points of view that call for the continuation of this fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and Italy.
