CAMEROON-ITALY COOPERATION: WE TALK HEALTH

Animal health issues were at the centre of discussions between the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries and the Italian Ambassador to Cameroon on 25 May 2022. Dr Taïga granted an audience to His Excellency Filippo Scammacca Del Burgo, who was accompanied by Dr Massimo Scacchia, head of the cooperation, research and development office of the Abruzzo and Molise Experimental Zoo Institute in Italy. The discussions, in the presence of the Director General of the National Veterinary Laboratory, focused on both breeding and fishing.

MINEPIA presented to its guest the evolution of actions aimed at ensuring animal health and the management of epizootics in Cameroon. The “One Health” inter-ministerial programme and the zoonoses programme are just some of the concrete actions in this development. A Memorandum of Understanding will be drawn up between MINEPIA/LANAVET and the aforementioned institute to give more concrete expression to this win-win cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will cover the development of vaccines, the training of personnel in the diagnosis of animal diseases and, in short, the transfer of Italian know-how.
