CAMEROON-AFD COOPERATION: THE NEW AFD DIRECTOR VISITS MINEPIA
Virginie DAGO was accompanied by outgoing director Benoît Lebeure.
The new head of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) in Cameroon will take up her post in August. But before she takes up her post, she visited the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries on 14 June 2022. After a few pleasantries during the first few minutes of the audience, the Franco-Ivorian said she was very flattered to be arriving in Cameroon after having worked in the French institution for twenty years. She is an engineer by training with an eye to development, and one of her priorities is to perpetuate the success of the C2D programme. The South African defector in the same sector of activity arrives in Cameroon at a time when the C2D is in its third phase, that of maturity. During this phase, it is envisaged that the State will take ownership of the training projects, a kind of institutional objective to be attained, which the two National Coordinators of the AFOP and ACEFA programmes present at the audience and beneficiaries of subsidies from this C2D programme will talk about. After four years of collaboration, Benoît Lebeure is leaving Cameroon with one wish: to see the State take ownership of all these initiatives.
On behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, MINEPIA reassured his hosts of the government’s readiness and openness to exchanges. The audience lasted around thirty minutes.
