LARGE-SCALE ANIMAL FEEDING: THE CENTER HAS ITS FEED MILL

Located in the locality of Olembe in the district of Yaoundé 1, the building leaves no one indifferent. A large warehouse for storing feed, sheds, administrative offices and, above all, six huge silos, each with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes of maize.

This is the Centre feed mill, the latest addition to the NJS group, a veritable champion of poultry production in Cameroon. On 24 April 2024, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries inaugurated this company, in the company of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, and religious and traditional authorities.

La provenderie du Centre was founded in 1982. It has a production capacity of 20 tonnes per hour and 100,000 tonnes per year of automated production of flour, crumbs and granules for animals of all ages, chickens, small ruminants, horses and fish. The company aims to supply national producers and those in the Central African sub-region.

Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries recalled that the NJS group, which was founded 43 years ago, is one of the forerunners of economic patriotism in Cameroon. Cameroon no longer imports chicken… The battle for chicken is now won, and I urge economic operators to win the battle for fish”, recommended Dr Taïga. The group, one of whose companies was inaugurated, remains a driving force in national poultry production. “NJS is sparing no effort to support the public authorities in implementing the national import-substitution policy,” said the group’s CEO in his speech.
