40th EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT MINEPIA
Under the theme “For all women and girls: rights, equality and empowerment”, International Women’s Day was celebrated with great fanfare at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA). Dressed in their brightly colored outfits, the women of the ministry made an impression with their majestic passage during the parade on the esplanade of the Boulevard du 20 Mai.
The highlight of this celebration was the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr. Taïga, who was present at the official rostrum, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the women of his ministerial department. Under her encouragement and enthusiastic ovations, the women of MINEPIA paraded with pride and elegance, captivating the attention and applause of the audience.
After this parade, the festivities continued at the esplanade annex of the MINEPIA buildings in Mvog-Betsi, in the presence of Minister Dr. Taïga, the Inspector General, as well as the heads of central and decentralized services. The ceremony began with the performance of the national anthem, followed by the women’s anthem and a minute of silence in tribute to the Secretary General of MINEPIA, who died in January 2025.
The speeches then marked this solemn moment, with the successive interventions of Minister Dr. Taïga, Mrs. Ngo Ongla Annie Claire, President of the MINEPIA Women’s Association (AFEMEPIA), and Mrs. Fochive, Head of the Social Action Department.
The event continued in a festive atmosphere, punctuated by artistic performances and vibrant choreographies, warmly greeted by the audience. It was also an opportunity to reward the most dynamic women in the ministry. Mrs. Sengue Pauline wife Eyango, support officer at the DREPIA Centre, received the Dynamic Woman Award from the Ministry – Central and Regional Services – of the year 2025, while Mrs. Sirri Pascaline was named “Dynamic Woman of the Year” for the central services of MINEPIA.
As a prelude to this celebration, several enriching activities were organized, including a human investment, a round table on mental health, stress management and prospects, moderated by Mrs. Onobion, psychologist and reverend pastor, as well as a conference on the role of women in society, highlighting their strength, influence and ability to impact various fields. The women of MINEPIA also paid a visit to the Sainte Marie orphanage in Mendong, a strong gesture of solidarity and social commitment.
This 40th edition of International Women’s Day at MINEPIA highlighted the progress of women within the ministry and strengthened their determination to go even further.
