38th EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT MINEPIA
Celebrated under the theme: “for an inclusive digital world: Innovation and Technologies for Gender Equality”, the women of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA), draped in their pretty uniforms, stood out for their brilliant performance during the parade on the esplanade of Boulevard du 20 mai. They were applauded by the Minister for the Promotion of Women and the Family (MINPROFF) and certain members of the government.
After the parade on the Boulevard, the festivities took place on the esplanade of the hall of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA). The event was attended by Minister Dr Taiga, the Secretary General, and heads of central and decentralised departments. The ceremony began with the playing of the National Anthem and the Women’s Anthem, led by Mrs Fochive, Head of the Social Action Department. This was followed by speeches by Minister Dr Taiga and the President of the Minepia Women’s Association (AFEMEPIA), Ms Ngo Ongla Annie Claire. As tradition would have it, the women of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) set the mood for the festivities with musical performances, during which a vibrant tribute was paid to the late artist Ekambi Brillant, to a standing ovation. The performance was much appreciated by the Minister, Dr Taiga.
During the celebrations, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taiga, presented a number of honorary awards, including the most influential woman of 2022, Mrs Mezom Mele Liane, and the golden woman of the year, Mrs Youpi Aristide, in the central and decentralised services of MINEPIA, not forgetting the presentation of the trophy of the football match won by the women’s team from the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) against the women’s team from the Ministry of the Civil Service and Administrative Reform (MINFOPRA) with a score of 3 goals to 2.
Prior to this final stage on 08 March, the women of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA), engaged in activities in the run-up to the celebration of International Women’s Day. These included human investment, a round table on digital inclusion and women’s empowerment led by officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family (MINPROFF), with 120 women taking part. An activity centred on basic monitoring gestures, led by women from the Association Camerounaise Pratiquante d’Arts Martiaux et Sports de Combat, during which women from the Ministère de Elevage des Pêches et des Industries Animales (MINEPIA) (Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries) learned about self-defence in situations they encounter in the streets, at the market and at home. A football match between women from MINEPIA and those from the Ministry of the Civil Service and Administrative Reform (MINFOPRA).
