CAMEROON-ITALY COOPERATION: HEALTH TALK
Animal health issues were the focus of discussions between the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries and the Italian Ambassador to Cameroon on May 25, 2022. Dr Taïga granted an audience to His Excellency Filippo Scammacca Del Burgo, who was accompanied by Dr Massimo Scacchia, Head of the Cooperation, Research and Development Office of the Experimental Prophylactic Zoo Institute of Abruzzo and Molise in Italy. Discussions, in the presence of the Director General of the National Veterinary Laboratory, focused on both breeding and fisheries.
MINEPIA presented to its host the evolution of actions aimed at ensuring animal health and epizootic disease management in Cameroon. The “One Health” interministerial program and the zoonoses program are just two concrete examples of this development.
A Memorandum of Understanding will be drawn up between MINEPIA/LANAVET and the aforementioned institute, to give concrete expression to this win-win cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will cover the development of vaccines, the training of personnel in animal disease diagnostics and, in short, the transfer of Italian know-how.
