PIG SECTOR: INTERPORCAM IS BORN

It was at the end of a constitutive plenary assembly that the Cameroon Pig Interprofession (INTERPORCAM) was set up on August 28, 2024 in Mbankomo.

The eight-person executive board of the new interprofession of Cameroon will be chaired by Mrs. Abena Epse Fouda Yvette for the next five years. The new president of Interporcam was elected after many negotiations by the players in the pork sector who finally agreed on a consensual list to carry out the activities of this group of players in the pork sector.

The Cameroon pig interprofession is the result of a desire of the public authorities to organize the said sector and its actors in order to get the best out of this increasingly booming sector. Its objectives are to defend the common interests of the members and above all the development of the sector. During the constitutive plenary assembly, a bureau was formed at the same time as four colleges. Cow-calf is the first college that includes activities related to genetic development, rearing of “parents”, fertilization, sow maternity, farrowing and post-weaning. Fattening concerns the rearing of pigs in order to provide meat, processing, in charge of slaughtering, cutting and charcuterie. The last college is made up of players operating in the field of distribution, in particular the sale of live or cut meat. The presidents of these four colleges are members of the Interporcam Executive Board. Ten regional representations are planned and possibly structures at the departmental level.
