Department for the Prevention and Control of Zoonoses
(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department for the Prevention and Control of Zoonoses is responsible for:
- monitoring projects and programmes for the prevention and control of zoonoses;
- surveillance and control of emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases, in liaison with relevant jurisdictions;
- the assessment of the health risks associated with zoonoses;
- monitoring the application of regulations on the prevention and control of zoonoses;
- monitoring the application of the health police in the prevention and control of zoonoses;
- participation in the development and monitoring of the application of contingency plans against zoonoses, in liaison with the administrations concerned;
- participation in the collection of statistical data relating to the prevention and control of zoonoses;
- participation in the popularization of scientific and technical documentation on the prevention and control of zoonoses.
