(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Aquaculture Service is responsible for:

  • the promotion of aquaculture;
  • the organization and monitoring of the supervision of fish farmers;
  • the examination of technical advice files on the import and export of aquaculture species, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • monitoring and supporting the activities of professional and interprofessional organizations of aquaculturists and non-governmental organizations working in the sector;
  • monitoring and control of private aquaculture extension services;
  • the development and monitoring of aquaculture standards, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • the selection of species adaptable to different ecological zones;
  • the collection of aquaculture statistics;
  • the examination of technical approval files, authorisations for the creation and authorisation to open aquaculture establishments, in conjunction with the administrations concerned.
