(1) Placed under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department of Small Livestock, Poultry and Rabbit Farming is responsible for:

  • monitoring the application of regulations on small livestock, poultry and rabbit farming;
  • the implementation of measures contributing to the development and modernization of small livestock, poultry and rabbit production;
  • the promotion of medium and large farms of small livestock, poultry and rabbit farming;
  • monitoring and technical control of small livestock, poultry and rabbit farming enterprises;
  • monitoring the exploitation of small livestock, poultry and rabbit farming and their products;
  • support for the setting up of small livestock, poultry and rabbit breeding projects;
  • the examination of applications for approval, authorisation to create or open establishments for the breeding of small livestock, poultry and rabbits;
  • the examination of technical advice files on the import or export of small livestock, poultry and rabbits;
  • the promotion of short-cycle species sectors;
  • the collection of statistics on the breeding of small livestock, poultry and rabbits;
  • the promotion and monitoring of quality labels for livestock products, poultry and rabbits, in conjunction with the administrations concerned;
  • monitoring the traceability of livestock products, poultry and rabbits.
