Created by presidential decree n° 2015/374 of August 12, 2015, the’Institut des Arts Nautiques et Halieutiques de Limbe (LINAFI) is a public administrative institution of higher technical and professional training in the various fields of fisheries and nautical sciences. It is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of LIVESTOCK, Fisheries and Animal Industries, the academic supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance. LINAFI offers initial and continuing education programs.

Initial training is a two-year’ teaching programme leading to a higher professional degree in the following areas: Fishing-Navigation, Maritime Engineering, Fisheries Technology, Fisheries resource assessment and management and Aquaculture. Continuing or ongoing training in’ includes any other specialized training that will improve the knowledge and professional performance of staff in the different areas of fishing and the sea.Fishing-Navigation : LINAFI trains quality personnel who will sail and command vessels (Fishing, Merchant and Passengers). They will also be equipped with appropriate methods and good fishing techniques to ensure the sustainability of our marine resources. Marine engineers are responsible for the maintenance of the ship’s machinery.

Electrical, nautical and industrial equipment included. Fishery technology trainees are responsible for the good hygiene practices of harvested marine products, including conservation, processing and quality control of harvested products. Graduates in fisheries resource assessment and management will be equipped with skills to’ assess our stocks and offer good management practices and decisions to policy makers. They will be part of’ a group of researchers with scuba diving skills to facilitate the’ identification and characterization of unknown marine species of commercial interest. Aquaculture graduates will be trained in modern fish farming techniques with a particular focus on the field of fish reproduction and nutrition.
