Training Centers for Agropastoral Operators
Although MINEPIA is primarily responsible for the livestock and animal industries sectors, it collaborates with MINADER to train farmers in areas where agriculture and livestock meet. Key programs and initiatives include:
- Rural Training Centers (CFR) These centers are often jointly managed by MINADER and MINEPIA. They are designed to train farmers in various aspects of agriculture, including integrated livestock farming and natural resource management. Some of the best known include:
- CFR of Djohong (Adamaoua Region)
- CFR of Nkongsamba (Littoral Region)
- CFR of Nanga Eboko (Central Region)
- Agricultural and Fisheries Production Extension and Training Centers These centers provide practical training to local producers, including programs for farmer-pastoralists who wish to integrate sustainable practices into their production systems. They are located in several regions of Cameroon and work in collaboration with the regional delegations of MINEPIA and MINADER to provide training in farm management, modern livestock breeding techniques and agricultural production.
Objectives of MINEPIA training centers for farmers
- Capacity building for smallholder farmers : The main objective of MINEPIA centers is to improve the skills of farmer-pastoralists so that they can adopt more modern and sustainable practices, thus maximizing productivity while protecting the environment.
- Improving food security : By training farmers to integrate agro-pastoral practices and promoting systems such as integrated agriculture or agroecology, MINEPIA contributes to improving food security in rural areas.
- Promotion of integrated agriculture : MINEPIA promotes the adoption of practices that combine livestock farming and agriculture, allowing farmers to diversify their sources of income while maintaining a balanced ecosystem.
