Projects and Programs
Le Ministry of LIVESTOCK, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) implements various programs and projects to promote the sustainable development of’ breeding, fishing and animal industries in Cameroon. This section presents the department’s strategic initiatives to support producers, improve food security and strengthen ecosystem resilience. The following sub-menus provide an overview of institutional programs and ongoing projects.
Les Institutional Programs MINEPIA are designed to meet the priority needs of the sector and to support growth and’ innovation in the fields of animal husbandry, animal health, and fisheries production. These programs include:
- Development Programme for Animal Productions and Industries (Program 053)
This programme aims to increase animal production by improving the capacity of livestock farmers, facilitating access to production resources, and stimulating the industrialisation of the sector. It supports’innovation in the techniques of’ breeding, the diversification of the reared species, and the local transformation of animal products to increase their added value. - ’ Programme Improvement of the Health Coverage of Sheep and the Fight against Zoonoses (Program 055)
This programme focuses on the protection of animals against diseases, with a particular focus on zoonoses, which are diseases transmissible from’animal to’homme. By strengthening health surveillance systems, the programme contributes to the health security of livestock and the protection of public health. It is’ based on actions of vaccination, veterinary control, and awareness of good health practices. - Development Program for Fish Productions (Program 057)
The development of fisheries production is at the heart of this programme, which aims to strengthen the production of aquatic resources while ensuring their sustainable management. It promotes modern fishing and’aquaculture techniques, the training of fishermen, and the’development of fishing areas to increase production while preserving marine and’eau freshwater ecosystems. - Governance and Institutional Support Programme in the Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries Subsector (Programme 059)
This programme is focused on improving the governance in the subsector of’ breeding and fisheries. It aims to build institutional capacity, improve coordination among stakeholders, and promote transparent and inclusive governance. This programme also supports the implementation of policies promoting sustainable development and the inclusion of small producers in economic circuits.
The section Projects presents the specific MINEPIA initiatives organized in descending order. These projects are often partnerships with national and international institutions and aim at various objectives, such as the’ improvement of productivity, the preservation of the’environnement, and the valorization of the products of the’ breeding and fishing. Projects include concrete actions such as:
- The construction of’infrastructures for the storage and processing of fishery products.
- The development of market platforms for the sale of local products.
- The implementation of programmes to support young people and women in the fields of fisheries and animal husbandry.
- Carrying out mass vaccination campaigns for the national herd.
Each project is designed to meet the specific needs of the sector and is part of the ministry’s sustainable development strategy, while having a direct and measurable impact on the living conditions of producers and local communities.
