Aquaculture development in the Far North region
Following the implementation of TCP/CMR/3703 Appui au développement de l’Aquaculture dans la Région de l’Extrême-Nord (support for the development of aquaculture in the Far North Region), activities to date have focused on the production of fish in ponds and outside tanks, as well as the technical management of a hatchery. One of the innovations planned as part of this TCP project is the transmission of techniques for assembling and rearing fish in cages and pens in the Mayo-Danay department. On 28 May 2021, ten (10) 12m3 cages were installed in the Maga reservoir. According to the experts in charge of the project, three (03) tonnes of tilapia will be produced within six (6) months.
