ANNUAL CONSULTATION OF MINEPIA’S CENTRAL, DECENTRALISED AND ATTACHED DEPARTMENTS AND BODIES: HERE WE GO AGAIN
After two years of hibernation due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) is resuming the traditional annual meeting of the heads of central, decentralised and attached departments and bodies under its supervision.
From 1 to 2 February 2023, the various officials of MINEPIA met at the Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaoundé with Doctor TAIGA, head of this ministerial department, for the aforementioned consultation. The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of the year 2022 and, above all, to outline the prospects for better results in 2023.
During the meeting, Dr Taïga said that it was up to MINEPIA to take ownership of the import-substitution policy instituted by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, and to consider the various actions to be carried out by MINEPIA as part of this policy. The guidelines are clear. The supply of fish must be further developed, because fish is one of the speculations that disrupt the balance of trade and must be intensively produced to supply the national market.
Cameroon therefore needs an abundance and quality of livestock and fishery products on the various tables to ensure that the economy is truly resilient in this area. Dr Taïga also indicated that the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries has great prospects for 2023, with a view to fully accomplishing its missions and thus contributing to Cameroon’s development in this sub-sector in particular.
