LIVESTOCK FAIR 2023 : FARMERS IMPLEMENT 2nd GENERATION AGRICULTURE
The 8th edition of the livestock show also known as DJOULDE DABADJI (DJODA 2023) took place with a call to livestock farmers to implement second-generation agriculture.
The appeal was launched by the Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr TAIGA, at the close of the three-day event, which began on 13 December 2023. The theme of this year’s event was “Development of milk production and the challenges of import-substitution in Cameroon”.
The event brought together players in the livestock sector from both inside and outside the country. Activities included livestock exhibitions of all breeds, business-to-business meetings, and presentations on various topics such as genetic improvement of milk production, mastering milk processing, vaccination and zoonosis control, among others. The major innovation at this year’s event was the promotion of intensive grazing through farm mechanisation and livestock auctions. The best exhibitors received cash prizes and equipment to facilitate livestock farming. The weight of the animal determined the winner, with some animals weighing up to a tonne.
Une course de chevaux a couronné l’événement.
