On Wednesday 17 January 2024, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taïga, received New Year’s greetings from the staff of his ministerial department, stakeholders in the EPIA sub-sector and special guests at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports in Yaoundé, led by his Secretary General, JAJI Manu GUIDADO. This was an opportunity for the Secretary General to give a detailed account of all the activities carried out within MINEPIA’s 04 main programmes, namely Programme 053 on the development of animal production and industries;

Programme 055 to improve health cover for livestock and combat zoonoses; Programme 057 to develop fisheries production;

Programme 059, which is responsible for governance and institutional support, as well as an assessment of the main actions carried out over the past year, under the impetus and supervision of the Minister.

It was also an opportunity for Dr Taïga to congratulate all the co-ordination and good collaboration shown by everyone at every level to achieve positive results. In addition to these congratulations, he urged everyone to redouble their efforts and become more involved in meeting the challenge of satisfying the population’s ever-growing and demanding demand for animal and fish products. The emotional ceremony was punctuated by a number of artists and comedians, including NYANGONO DU SUD, KEGUEGUE INTERNATIONAL and others, who put the guests in a good mood. Medals were presented to certain MINEPIA officials by Dr Taiga, who congratulated them on a job well done. Finally, the Minister’s handshake was accompanied by a number of gifts, which his hosts proudly brought and presented.

At MINEPIA, 2024 has been dubbed “the Year to promote the animal and fish industries to implement the government’s import-substitution policy”.
