NATIONAL UNITY DAY: MINEPIA – ENEF A FINE EXAMPLE OF LIVING TOGETHER

The men’s and women’s football teams of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) played 02 friendly matches against the Ecole Nationale des Eaux et Forêts (ENEF) in Mbalmayo on Saturday 18 May 2024 at the ENEF’s legendary “AYOUS” stadium.

At the invitation of ENEF, over sixty MINEPIA staff gathered at the Délégation Régionale d’Elevage, des Pêches et des Industries Animales du Centre (starting point) on the morning of Saturday 18 May to travel to Mbalmayo. A delegation from Minepia Sport was led by its chairman, Mr Divine NGALA TOMBUH, Assistant Director of Aquaculture at MINEPIA, under the supervision of the Minepia Centre Regional Delegate, Dr Rose PENDA.

To the rhythm of the fanfare, ENEF gave a very warm welcome to its Minepia Sport guests, who were given a tour of the town before finally arriving at the ENEF premises. After a briefing, hostilities got under way, with the women’s teams taking up their positions and the game getting under way. The women’s teams put together some excellent combinations, even scoring a few goals along the way. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the Minepia Sport ladies. The two men’s teams then set up and Dr Rose PENDA kicked off the match. As expected, the men gave their all. Corner kicks, free kicks and goals were the order of the day, with a total of 04 goals scored, this time 3-1 in favour of the ENEF men.

At the end of the two matches, the ENEF offered a dinner to its guests, a moment filled with emotion with speeches by the Minepia Centre Regional Delegate, the ENEF Director and the Minepia Sport President. The latter was quick to point out that the aim of these two matches was not to win or lose, but to have fun, and the gamble paid off. He took the opportunity to offer two balls to the ENEF teams, while inviting them to train harder for the return matches scheduled in a month’s time in Yaoundé, at the GP Melen stadium. The evening ended in a special atmosphere with the sounds of the brass band

Can’t wait for the return legs!
