Dr Taiga receives Mrs Prisca Amaheba Koho, née Nlend, Gabon’s Minister for Fisheries and the Sea, in audience
Gabon’s Minister of Fisheries and the Sea recently met her Cameroonian counterpart in Yaoundé on this subject.
The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, current Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Gulf of Guinea Regional Fisheries Commission (Corep), received in audience on May 27, 2019, the Gabonese Minister of Fisheries and the Sea, who is visiting Cameroon. Dr Taïga and Prisca Amaheba Koho exchanged views for 90 minutes on cooperation opportunities in fisheries and aquaculture, in a context marked by the diversification of economies through, in particular, improving the contribution of non-oil sectors such as agriculture, fishing and livestock. The two ministers discussed Cameroon’s experience and expertise in the organization of trade fairs, the development of poultry farming, the establishment of modern slaughterhouses and cold stores to improve the quality of meat put on the market, the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (Inn fishing), and training in the fishing and marine trades, in conjunction with the Limbe Nautical Arts and Fisheries Institute (Linafi).At the end of their discussions, the two personalities recognized the need to strengthen cooperation in the fight against illegal fishing within the framework of Corep, and to deepen reflection on the possibilities for partnership between the private players of the two countries in the field of illegal fishing.
