AUDIENCE: MINEPIA RECEIVES SUDCAM HÉVÉA MANAGER
On February 17, 2021, Dr. Taïga received Hervé Francis in his office.
SUDCAM HÉVÉA, a CORRIE-MACCOL Group company operating in Cameroon’s Southern and Central regions, is seeking to expand its activities in the livestock sector, particularly in pork.
The managers of this company, which specializes in rubber tree production, were at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries to ask for the administration’s support. We currently have 300 hectares and plan to expand to 27,000 in ten years’ time”, says Hervé Francis. The aim is to develop pork breeding and many other speculations among local residents, with a view to ensuring food security in Cameroon and developing the livestock value chain.
Dr. Taïga thanked his hosts for the initiative, which is in line with the policy of import substitution advocated by the Head of State. MINEPIA provided technical support in terms of basic broodstock, supervision and promotion of aquaculture in the environment. In this operation, the “pass on the gift” system is suggested as part of the strategy for providing productive support to the population. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is due to be signed by the two institutions with a view to the start-up of activities, scheduled for May 2021.
