ANIMAL AND FISHERIES SECTORS: 6.5 BILLION TO BOOST PRODUCTION

The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr. TAIGA, chaired on August 20, 2026, at the MONT FEBE Hotel in Yaoundé, the signing ceremony of the Partnership Agreements and Performance Contracts relating to the implementation of the Integrated Agropastoral and Fisheries Import-Substitution Plan (PIISAH) for the 2026 financial year.

The ceremony brought together the heads of the PIISAH implementing agencies, namely SODEPA, LANAVET, MIDEPECAM, CDEN, CDENO and CDPM, as well as partners BC-PME, MAETUR and the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK).

During the meeting, two major presentations marked the ceremony: the presentation of the PIISAH performance monitoring system at MINEPIA; the presentation of the status of implementation of the IIHSP.

The highlight was the signing of two strategic partnership agreements between MINEPIA and MAETUR, on the one hand, and between MINEPIA and BC-PME, on the other hand. The agreement with BC-PME covers an additional amount of 6.5 billion CFA francs, for the 2026 fiscal year, intended to finance actors in the dairy and fish cattle sectors.

In his speech, Minister Dr. TAIGA stressed that the Partnership Agreements and Performance Contracts reflect the Government’s determination to accelerate the implementation of the PIISAH, presented as a major tool to improve national production, reduce dependence on imports and strengthen the competitiveness of the agropastoral and fisheries sectors. He also stressed the need to produce more, produce better and localize production. Referring to the resources mobilized under the agreements, the Minister said that they will facilitate access to credit for producers, entrepreneurs and processors in priority sectors, support productive investments and support processing, conservation and marketing infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of developing bankable and sustainable economic models, as well as strengthening support for developers, so that the financing mobilized translates into an increase in national production.

The Minister said : “The objective is to produce more. The objective is to produce better. The goal is to localize production and ensure effective marketing. »

Continuing his remarks, Dr. TAIGA recalled that the implementation model is based in particular on a private sector strongly involved in production, alongside the political will carried by the Head of State.

The Minister then signed performance contracts with six implementing agencies: SODEPA, LANAVET, MIDEPECAM, CDPM, CDEN and CDENO.
